The Multiplier Event disseminating the results of the New Educations Project in Wieliczka, Poland took place on the 27th September 2018 in "Karczma pod Wielką Solą", a traditional inn in the premises of the town. The meeting was attended by 32 guests from various institutions, schools, organisations, NGOs from our town, borough and province, including the Governor of our County, numerous school headmasters, 1 university professor, 2 directors of county library, and many others.
On the 20th of September 2018, Osnovna škola Petra Preradovića, Zadar organised their Erasmus+ Multiplier Event. The event was held in the Rector's Palace which is a historic building dating from the 13th century and is located on the peninsula of Zadar city. Although thirty-seven official guests were invited, over sixty people attended. The official guests came from three cities, the capital Zagreb, Split and of course Zadar.
On 18.09.2018 the A. Bertolucci High School presented the results of the New Educations project at their school. Dr. Mattia Baiutti, researcher and trainer at the Intercultura Foundation, introduced the training seminar emphasising the aim of the school in a complex and constantly evolving society: educating for citizenship, acquiring transversal skills.
On 11 September 2018 Manisa Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi organised their multiplier event. There were 30 participants from different schools and the education department of the city, NGOs, teachers unions, parents unions, research and development departments of the local government and city council.
As the project is approaching its end, in all partner countries multiplier events are being organised, aimed at disseminating the intellectual outputs resulting from the project: the Guide of good practices and the Course on New Educations.
Craiova, Romania
The series of multiplier events was opened by Edulife Association in collaboration with Scoala Gimnaziala Ghindeni and Liceul Tehnologic de Transporturi Auto Craiova, who organized the first event in Craiova on 6 September 2018 in Hotel Golden House in Craiova.
The last project meeting took place in Craiova from 4 to 8 September 2018. All Romanian partners prepared a warm welcome to all the participants. The first day started with an intensive project meeting. After the meeting, the project team was received in the City Hall by the representatives of the Dolj County. The rest of this day was spent on exploring the town with a visit to the Băniei House – the oldest non-religious building in Craiova, dating from 1699, that today hosts the Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art.
Between June 18th and July 1st 2018, the Edulife Association is organizing the 6th edition of the Edulife Summer School, in partnership with the Harsu Parish, the Sports, Culture and Education Association and Mihai Viteazul Secondary School from Craiova. On Wednesday 20th June 2018 the Croatian New Educations partner Osnovna Skola Petra Preradovica from Zadar presented the project outcomes to the Croatian National Conference for Primary School Teachers held in Vodice, Croatia.
Between 3 and 7 June 2018 the New Educations partners gathered in Manisa for the third dedicated Project Management Meeting. The hosts from Manisa Social Sciences High School had put together an exciting programme with a good mix of work, exploration, and visits. On the first day we visited the school and the town of Manisa. The second day was largely allocated to the project meeting. Also on the second day, we visited the nearby city of Izmir.
In this extra long third issue of the New Educations Newsletter 3 more project partners present themselves, we give a short update on the modules that were implemented since the last Newsletter in December 2017, we report on the training activity that took place in Leuven (Belgium). Finally, a short news item about the Made for Europe contest.
On 8 and 9 May 2018 the Manisa Social High School hosted a TUBİTAK Science Fair during which our Turkish partner disseminated the workshop ideas to over 500 students, teachers, parents, headmasters, directors, public, and governors.
From Monday 16 until Friday 20 April 2018, ATiT (Audio-visual Technologies, Informatics and Telecommunications) organised a training seminar on the subject of the use of media in education. The workshop took place in the sunny city of Leuven, a bustling and lively university town in the Flemish part of Belgium. 32 teachers, trainers and other educational staff participated in the training programme that consisted of a few short lectures, hands on workshops, visits and excursions.
The Romanian Ministry of Education organized a national competition of the results and outcomes from projects financed with EU funding. From 2011 onwards, when the representative from the Ghindeni School won the 1st prize at the National Phase, each year the school has participated in the regional phase. During the last 3 years, (2016 until 2018), we won the 1st prize at the regional level and our students were invited to represent our European projects at the National phase.
At present, more than 5.3 billion people are using the earth's natural resources. It is becoming impossible to escape the consequence of severe environmental degradation: species extinction, spreading deserts, pesticide contamination, increasing public health problems, starvation, poverty, and loss of human life. Environmental education offers students not only knowledge, skills, motivation and values but also commitment to manage the earth's resources sustainably and to take responsibility for maintaining environmental quality.
Just before the end of 2017, Liceo A.Bertolucci, Parma (Italy) published its module on Health Education, with as main themes: Dietary Education and Education to Fragility. Ten workshops were created with the following titles:
In this second issue of the New Educations Newsletter aimed at teachers, educationalists, teacher trainers, policy makers, parents, pupils, and all involved or interested in the New Educations concept, we present the Turkish project partner Manisa Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi, we give an update on the status of the modules that were implemented in 2017 so far, we report on the project management meeting in Parma and the training activity that took place in Barcelona.
The New Educations project keeps attracting the interest of the local and national press. Articles have appeared in the Croatian, the Italian, the Turkish and the Belgian news papers and more will follow.
The New Educations Project is about half way through its lifetime and the results are becoming available: already 5 modules with learning and teaching materials are now drafted and tested in the partner schools, they contain the modules for education for peace, for development, entrepreneurial education, education for democracy and civic education. All partner schools have received the guideines and have been involved in selecting and teaching the lessons according to the scenarios drafted by the partners.
The Liceo Attilio Bertolucci in Parma (Italy) hosted the 2nd New Educations Transnational Project Meeting from 25 until 27 October 2017. On Wednesday 25th of October the Italian team with Roberta, Silvia, Mara, Maria and colleagues prepared a warm welcome and an interesting programme for all of the project team at their school.
The Education for Democracy workshops practices interrelationship, organization and collective management derived from concrete everyday behaviours, as a direct result from the human rights themselves. The fundamental objective is to form young people guided by ethical principles that can exercise autonomous, critical and responsible action. Spanish partner DEMÀ from Barcelona is an expert in this domain.
Liceo Bertolucci in Parma has been very busy implementing the workshops selected from the courses created so far in the project. These workshops made it possible for example to deepen aspects of the students' individual personality and to discuss the relationship between media and society. The latter is really important in particular for the Liceo Bertolucci Institute, because the development of the digital and creative skills required in these tasks are crucial for our students. For example, in class 2D the students chose to analyse and criticise the negativity of advertisement.
"Empowering Teachers” is the theme of this year's (2017) World Teachers' Day and its aim is to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching. On October 5th, World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated în Ghindeni School, Romania, by teachers and students who participated in a series of workshops on how education and teachers make a difference in the classroom and beyond. As the seminar on Democracy held by D.E.M.A had a strong impact on the participant teachers, we integrated the subject of democratic school in these activities.
A presentation on the “Education for democracy” module was held at “Henri Coanda” Highschool on the 2nd of October 2017 by English teacher Sonia Dobre, volunteer at Edulife Association, participant in the training activity that took place in Barcelona meeting from 18 tot 22 September 2017. This presentation was attended by more than 50 people who responded very positively to the activity. First, the idea, the objectives and the outcomes of the project were presented.
The Belgian Dutch-language newspaper Het Belang van Limburg reported briefly on the experience of Belgian participanst to the Barcelona Teacher Training Activity. This training was organized by DEMA (Departament d'Estudis dels Medis Actuals). Together with teachers from Italy, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Spain and Turkey, 3 Belgian teachers/trainers followed workshops and lectures on the themes “What is democracy?”, “How to define democracy?”, “The methodology of learning services”, “Media and democracy”, “Democracy and diversity”, and so on.
From Monday 18 until Friday 22 September 2017, DEMÀ (Departament d'Estudis dels Medis Actuals) organised a training seminar on the subject of education for democracy in Barcelona. The training week coincided with the developments of events around the Catalan independence, which made it all even more interesting and relevant.
The training programme consisted of lectures, visits, workshops and excursions.
Between 18-22 September 2017, two teachers, Hanife Karakaya and Ilknur Aktas from Manisa Social Sciences High School, participated in the learning/training activity in Barcelona,Spain. The training activity was about Democracy Education and it was organised by DEMÀ. DEMÀ is a non-profit association which works in the field of adult education, along with many others. The whole group joined in the workshops in the morning and in the afternoon there were trips to places connected with democracy and education.
The first issue of the New Educations Newsletter is launched today. In this newsletter aimed at teachers, educationalists, teacher trainers, policy makers, parents and pupils you will find all the news about the New Educations Project, the activities and the results of the project.
As a part of the dissemination activities of the Erasmus+ Project New Educations, Aslihan Sirin and Ilknur Aktas from the Manisa Social Sciences High School (Turkey) organised a workshop together with the PR staff of their municipality on 24th of May 2017.The workshop was called “Am I a Good Communicator?”. It had been prepared for the Personal Development Module of the project by Paweł Dziura and Katarzyna Tokarczyk, from Liceum Ogólnokształcace in Wieliczka Poland.
Following an inspiring week in Poland, the Croatian New Educations team were eager to continue with work on the project. However, the first task was preparing a presentation to describe our trip to Poland to children and staff. The presentation was a huge success. Over one hundred slides, including many photos and information enabled us to bring the magic of Wieliczka to our school.
The Turkish team joined in the Poland trip with 12 participants – 4 teachers and 8 students. The trip started on 23/04/2017 and ended on 29/04/2017. The aim of this mobility was to study various aspects and importance of Personal Development. Before the team set off, students and teachers studied the agenda, workshop activities, trips and journey details together. All were well-prepared, very excited and felt like at the beginning of a unique adventure.
From 24 until 28 April 2017, the project partners of New Educations gathered in Poland for its first five day training event held in Wieliczka, Poland. The theme of the training was "Education for Personal Development" and the focus was on the transversal skills that teachers need today: motivation, teamwork, learning, creativity, communication, assertive behaviour, conflict management skills.
The second module of the New Educations in Promoting Transversal Skills project focuses on Civic Education. This module was designed by the teachers, staff and students of Manisa Social Sciences High School in Manisa, Turkey. In this module learners learn what civic education means and why it is so important to raise awareness and sensitivity for it. They will also learn to be conscious, thoughtful, considerate towards citizenship, democracy and human rights as well as the protection and application of human rights.
